Immediate Past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, has declared that “it’s my turn” to represent the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Orji who formally commenced his campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Orji made the declaration on Wednesday in Umuahia, the Abia State Capital, while meeting with women from across the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency as part of activities marking the commencement of his campaign.
The former Speaker expressed appreciation to his supporters and constituents for standing by him over the years, particularly during the 2023 elections.

He commended the people of the constituency for supporting him during the last election without intimidation, urging them to renew their support as he seeks election to the National Assembly.

“It’s my turn. I’ll not start here and castigate an Igbo man seeking the presidency. But this time around, you cannot only vote for me; you have to support me and others,” Orji said.

He explained that his ambition was driven by the desire to secure a platform through which he could effectively represent the constituency at the federal level and attract meaningful development to the area.

Orji said his campaign would focus on ideas, accountability and his record of service, rather than personal attacks or political propaganda.
He also promised to lobby for the inclusion of projects benefiting Ikwuano/Umuahia in the national budget if elected, stressing that the constituency deserved greater attention at the federal level.

“I’ll make sure, as others have done, to put Ikwuano/Umuahia projects in the national budget,” he said.
