The Federal High Court has reportedly nullified the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Nafiu Bala Gombe as the party’s only recognised National Executive Committee (NEC) member.

The suit was instituted by Nafiu Bala Gombe, who challenged the process through which the committee led by former Senate President, Senator David Mark, assumed control of the party’s leadership.

Gombe argued that following the resignation of the former National Chairman of the ADC, Chief Ralph Nwosu, he was constitutionally qualified to take over the leadership of the party.

He consequently approached the court, seeking, among other reliefs, an order nullifying all actions taken on behalf of the party by the David Mark-led leadership.

Among the actions challenged were the party’s primary election, which reportedly produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The court’s reported decision is expected to have significant implications for the leadership structure of the ADC and the validity of decisions taken by the David Mark-led faction.
