The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has appointed Senator Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu as Director-General of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment was disclosed on Thursday in a statement by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council.
According to the statement, Akobundu will coordinate the party’s campaign structures across the country as part of his responsibilities.
Akobundu, a retired Colonel of the Nigerian Army, served as Minister of State for Defence and is the serving senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District.
He is expected to oversee the political and operational activities of the ADC presidential campaign as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
