The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Abia South Senatorial District, Dr. Kasarachi Enyinna, has decried what he described as poor representation of the zone in the last 20 years, saying the people have not enjoyed the dividends of democracy.

Speaking in a video message, Enyinna, who is from Abia South, said his decision to run is driven by the need to give the district a better voice at the federal level and to bring succor to critical sectors.

“I believe that Abia South is being represented very poorly in terms of the dividends of democracy. If you travel throughout Abia South, you will see how poorly our representatives have been doing in the last 20 years,” he said.

The senatorial hopeful said it was time for the younger generation to start asking real questions about the role of a legislator, which he noted includes oversight, policy formulation and community development.

According to him, Abia South people must ask what health and road infrastructure and policies their Senator has attracted in the last two decades.

“Those are real questions you need to ask as we start campaigning from now. Ask yourself; do you still want to be the same way you are in the last 20 years? Or do you believe that this same person that has been representing you has done averagely okay? If not, make an alternative,” he charged constituents.

Enyinna promised to leverage the federal government to improve the economic fortunes of Aba, which he described as the economic capital of Abia State, particularly by pushing policies to reduce tax burdens on businesses.

He also pledged to showcase the ingenuity of Aba to the international community, attract investments to the commercial city and address the infrastructure deficit in the oil-producing areas of the district which he said have suffered years of abandonment.

Unveiling his agenda, the NDC candidate said his priorities would include road infrastructure, healthcare, youth empowerment and digital skills acquisition.

“We are hoping to put up digital centres where we can have digital skill acquisition and also to give access to finance, which is more important for businesses located in Aba and in Abia State. To give them a way to be able to access funds from DFIs and other financial institutions that people are not able to access,” he explained.

He added that his representation would work with both state and federal governments to deliver on infrastructure and economic development.

“We want to see a better Abia South that works for everyone in the next four years. Support my candidacy,” Enyinna appealed.

Dr. Enyinna is contesting the Abia South Senatorial seat on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections.
