Dr. Chima Anyaso, the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, has congratulated the people of Item Ancient Kingdom on their 2026 Cultural Festival held on Saturday in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State.

Dr. Anyaso, who was represented at the event by the Director General of his Campaign Council, Pastor Dike Okechukwu, described Item as a great kingdom that has produced distinguished men and women, including Financial and Development expert Aroma Oteh, among other notable personalities.

He reaffirmed his commitment to identifying with the people of Item, noting that their cultural heritage, contributions to society and historical significance deserve recognition and support.

The campaign representative also assured the people that the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, remains committed to their wellbeing, adding that Dr. Anyaso would not support any attempt by anyone to shortchange the people of Item.

A major highlight of the cultural celebration was the presentation of a new Toyota Highlander to the Okpi of Item, HRH Eze Silas Igwe, by Dr. Anyaso.

The gesture followed Dr. Anyaso’s observation of the condition of the traditional ruler’s vehicle. He subsequently presented the new car as a befitting gift in honour of the revered traditional stool.

The visibly delighted monarch expressed appreciation for the gesture and offered prayers for Dr. Anyaso. He also declared that the time had come for Dr. Anyaso to represent Bende Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

The 2026 Item Cultural Festival brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, sons and daughters of Item Ancient Kingdom, and other stakeholders to celebrate the cultural identity, unity and heritage of the people.
