The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, KSC, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the member representing Aba North State Constituency, Hon. Aaron Uzodike, following the death of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Joy Ocheze Aaron, who died at the age of 50.

The Speaker conveyed his condolences on Thursday, November 6, 2026, during the burial ceremony of the deceased at Asaokpulor Community, Aba North Local Government Area of Abia State.

In his condolence message, Emeruwa described the death of Mrs. Aaron as painful, regrettable and particularly distressing because of its sudden nature.

He noted that the loss of a loved one often leaves families in deep grief and anguish, adding that although death is painful, it remains an inevitable reality of human existence.

The Speaker urged Hon. Aaron Uzodike and the deceased’s husband, Hon. Ahamefula Aaron, to draw strength and consolation from God, describing Mrs. Aaron’s death as a colossal loss that had created a vacuum difficult to fill.

In his sermon, the Bishop of the Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria, Inc., Bishop Joel Ikechukwu Mokwe, spoke on the theme, “Vanity of this Life and Wisdom of Living Life with Eternity in View.”

The Bishop described life as transient and cautioned against placing excessive importance on worldly pleasures at the expense of eternity. He noted that death is the common end of all humanity, just as the late Mrs. Aaron had departed this world.

He also described the marriage between the deceased and her husband as exemplary, blissful and harmonious, commending the husband for his love, care and commitment to his family.

Drawing lessons from 1 Thessalonians 2:6, Ecclesiastes 7:2, James 4:13–15 and Ecclesiastes 12:13–14, Bishop Mokwe encouraged the sympathisers to find comfort in the Word of God, assuring them that those who die in Christ will rise again to meet the Lord.

He further urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith, stressing that although they may face persecution and opposition, God remains their deliverer.

The cleric also encouraged the bereaved family to take solace in God, declaring that the devil had lost the battle.

In his tribute, Hon. Aaron Uzodike described the late Mrs. Aaron as a hardworking, diligent and committed organiser whose presence brought peace and calm wherever she went.

He said her death was a painful and irreplaceable loss, leaving a deep vacuum in the family and among those who knew her.

Uzodike recalled that the deceased was a loving mother who cherished her children and respected her husband.

He also disclosed that Mrs. Joy had played a significant maternal role in the lives of his own children following the death of his wife, raising and caring for them with love, compassion and dedication as though they were her biological children.

He said her kindness, good deeds and invaluable contributions to the family would remain indelible in the hearts of all who encountered her.
