The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, KSC, has described Aba residents as reliable, steadfast and committed supporters of Governor Alex Otti’s administration, commending them for their contributions to the governor’s electoral victory and his emergence as their representative in the state legislature.

Emeruwa made the remarks while addressing indigenes of Item and Abam communities during their respective annual Day celebrations held in Aba, bringing together sons and daughters of the two communities, alongside friends, well-wishers and political stakeholders, to celebrate their cultural heritage and promote unity.

The Item Day celebration took place at the College of Health Sciences and Management Technology, Aba, while the Abam Day celebration was held at Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba. Both venues attracted large gatherings of community members and distinguished guests.

Speaking separately at the events, the Speaker said the massive votes delivered by Aba residents to Governor Otti and the confidence reposed in him as their representative in the Abia State House of Assembly demonstrated their loyalty, trust and commitment to the present administration.

He commended the people for their continued support, assuring them that their confidence would be reciprocated through accountability, effective representation and impactful governance.

Emeruwa also acknowledged the significant contributions of Item and Abam communities to the growth and development of Aba, noting that the history of the commercial city would be incomplete without recognising their contributions.

According to him, members of the two communities have established strong footprints in commerce, craftsmanship, manufacturing and small-scale enterprises, contributing immensely to the economic identity and development of Aba.

He further noted that the entrepreneurial activities of Aba residents remained critical to job creation, wealth generation and distribution, as well as the overall economic advancement of Abia State.

The Speaker urged the people of Item and Abam to sustain their support for the Otti-led administration, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections, to enable the government to consolidate its achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth development and economic growth.

In recognition of the development aspirations of the two communities, Emeruwa also announced generous financial donations towards their respective hall-building projects.

The celebrations attracted members of the Abia State House of Assembly, members of the Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa Campaign Council, political stakeholders, youth groups, women leaders and other well-wishers.
