Abia Central Senator, Austin Akobundu, has reassured members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of his unwavering commitment to the party despite recent defections by some members.
In a statement addressed to party faithful in Abia State and beyond, Akobundu acknowledged the exit of several members, including prominent figures, but emphasized that the party’s mission remains focused on addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges such as insecurity, poverty, hunger, and disease.
He noted that while those who left the party are not begrudged, the ADC’s vision is rooted in long-term national interest rather than short-term political gains. According to him, meaningful change requires perseverance and collaboration among committed patriots.
The senator commended party members for their resilience, describing their response to the recent developments as a demonstration of strength, clarity, and conviction. He urged them not to be discouraged, but instead to use the situation as motivation to strengthen the party’s resolve.
Following consultations, Akobundu confirmed his decision to remain in the ADC and work with like-minded nationalists across the country to achieve the party’s objectives.
He called on members to remain steadfast, stressing that the current moment demands unity and determination.
“This is not the time to waver; it is the time for Nigeria to arise and shine,” he stated, reaffirming confidence in the party’s future.
The statement concluded with a rallying call to members, emphasizing collective effort in advancing the ADC’s vision for Nigeria.
