The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, popularly known as Ikuku, has pledged to establish three modern skills acquisition centres across the constituency if elected to the House of Representatives.

Orji disclosed that the proposed centres would be located in Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Local Government Areas as part of his legislative agenda aimed at promoting human capital development, youth empowerment and economic growth.

According to the former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, the centres would provide practical vocational training, entrepreneurial development opportunities and marketable skills for youths, women and other interested residents of the constituency.

He explained that the initiative would focus on equipping beneficiaries with the knowledge and expertise needed to become self-reliant, establish businesses, generate employment and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

Orji identified information and communication technology (ICT), fashion and garment production, electrical installation, catering and hospitality, agricultural processing and modern crafts as some of the vocational areas the proposed centres would cover.

He maintained that investing in skills development would help tackle unemployment, encourage innovation, strengthen small businesses and create sustainable economic opportunities across the three local government areas.

The APC candidate further assured constituents that he would pursue the initiative through legislative advocacy, partnerships with relevant government agencies, private sector collaboration and efforts to secure the necessary resources for implementation.

He emphasised that empowering people with practical skills remains essential to building a productive and economically independent society.

“Our people deserve access to opportunities that will help them realise their potential, and I am committed to making skills development and economic empowerment important parts of my legislative agenda,” Orji stated.

The former Speaker reiterated his commitment to prioritising initiatives that would improve livelihoods, promote entrepreneurship and create lasting economic opportunities for the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency if elected in 2027.
