The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has formally presented Barrister Kelechi Anosike, PhD, as its gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Presenting the party’s flag bearer to members of the media in Abia State, the PDP leadership described Anosike’s emergence as a reflection of the collective will, renewed hope, and strategic direction of the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
According to the party, Anosike possesses the intellectual depth, legal background, administrative competence, political maturity, and clear understanding of the developmental challenges confronting Abia State.
The party stated that governance success should not be measured by propaganda or public relations management, but by the quality and quantity of jobs created and developmental impact achieved with available resources.
The PDP further criticized the performance of the current Abia State Government, describing it as inadequate when compared with the huge resources accruing to states under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially following the removal of fuel subsidy.
“Abians deserve a government that can convert public resources into visible development, economic opportunities, improved infrastructure, job creation, institutional discipline, and a better quality of life for the people,” the party stated.
The party noted that before and during its gubernatorial primaries, it was determined to produce a candidate with character, competence, courage, and the ability to unite the people towards the rescue and renewal of the state.
It added that extensive consultations, deliberations, and democratic processes within the party ultimately produced Barr. Kelechi Anosike, PhD, as the PDP governorship candidate.
The PDP leadership expressed confidence that Anosike would provide purposeful leadership and reposition Abia State for greater development if elected governor in 2027.
