For too long, the people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South have continued to demand effective and visible representation that reflects their needs and aspirations. As the 2027 elections approach, the Mandate 27 Group has called for renewed attention to legislative performance, accountability and development across the federal constituency.

The group said Ikwuano/Umuahia is a strategic constituency whose people deserve strong representation at the National Assembly, particularly in areas such as legislative advocacy, federal infrastructure, youth empowerment, healthcare, education and economic development.

According to the group, its campaign is focused on promoting what it considers effective representation and ensuring that the interests of the people remain central to political discussions ahead of 2027.

The Mandate 27 Group expressed support for Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, popularly known as Ikuku, citing his experience in public service and his previous tenure as Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly.

The group referenced projects and initiatives associated with Orji’s tenure as Speaker, including water projects, educational interventions, scholarships, ICT training, healthcare interventions, transformers and road projects.

It argued that his legislative experience could be brought to bear at the federal level if elected to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The group also outlined what it described as the “Ikuku Compact,” which includes advocacy for federal roads and electrification, agro-processing and storage facilities for farmers, improved healthcare access, inclusion of women and persons with disabilities, and regular public tracking of constituency projects.

Mandate 27 Group said it would continue engaging with residents across the 32 wards of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South to discuss their expectations for effective representation.

The group maintained that its support for Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is based on his experience and its belief that the constituency requires strong legislative advocacy and development-focused representation.

It called on residents to participate actively in the democratic process and assess all candidates and their programmes ahead of the 2027 general election.
