The Chima Anyaso Campaign Council has paid a solidarity and sympathy visit to communities affected by the devastating flooding in Ugwueke, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, identifying with a bereaved family as well as families whose homes, investments and personal properties were affected by the natural disaster.
The delegation, led by the Director-General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Organization, Pastor Dike Okechukwu , toured some of the affected communities to assess the level of destruction and personally convey the sympathy and solidarity of the Labour Party’s Candidate for Bende Federal Constituency Dr. Chima Anyaso to the victims.
The visit followed the torrential rainfall and flooding that recently wreaked havoc in Ugwueke, destroying homes, farmlands and other properties and displacing hundreds of residents. Sadly 37-year-old trader identified as Ejiuwa who was caught in the flood while returning from the market lost his Life.
At Amaokai Autonomous Community, the delegation visited the family of the late Mr. Ejiuwa to commiserate with them over the painful loss of their loved one. Members of the delegation expressed their condolences to the family and prayed for God to grant them the strength to bear the loss.
From Amaokai, the team proceeded to Etiti Autonomous Community, where it interacted with residents who lost homes, businesses, investments and personal belongings to the flooding. The delegation inspected some of the affected areas and listened to the experiences of victims as they recounted the impact of the disaster on their families and livelihoods.
The campaign team also visited Ndelu Autonomous Community, where it was received by Chief Paul Okorie, a former Manager of Golden Guinea Nigeria PLC. The delegation inspected affected locations and sympathized with residents whose properties and means of livelihood were damaged by the flood.
The team subsequently proceeded to Amaeze Autonomous Community, where it also met with victims and inspected some of the areas affected by the flooding.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Pastor Okechukwu Dike assured the people that they would not be abandoned at such a difficult moment, stressing that the Labour Party and its House of Representatives candidate would continue to stand with them as they recover from the tragedy.
“We want the families and communities affected by this unfortunate disaster to know that they are not alone. We share in your grief and understand the pain of losing a loved one, homes, investments and properties that took years of sacrifice to build.
“We encourage you not to lose hope because of what has happened. The Labour Party will continue to stand by the people of Ugwueke, not only in moments of celebration but also in difficult times such as this. We are here today because your pain is our pain, and we will continue to identify with you as you begin the process of rebuilding your lives,” Dike said.
He also conveyed the sympathy of Dr. Chima Anyaso to the bereaved family and other victims, praying for comfort for those who lost loved ones and strength for residents who suffered material losses.
He concluded by expressing solidarity with the affected communities, maintaining that beyond politics, moments of tragedy demand compassion and collective support for families confronted with unexpected loss.
The delegation included the Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area Hon Mrs Ngozi Sandra Anya, the Chairman of the Campaign Advisory Board Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha, the Councilor Representing Ugwueke/ Ezeukwu Ward Hon. Chukwu Chidiebere Udeh among other Directors in the Chima Anyaso Campaign Council.
