The All Progressives Congress candidate for Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Chief Barr. Samuel Okezie Nwogu, has demonstrated an act of compassion and fatherly responsibility by formally adopting little Miss Rejoice Okekenwa Ekeke, whose mother died shortly after giving birth to her, as his seventh grandchild.

Nwogu made the announcement on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, during his formal adoption by the Ndoki Liberation Assembly as its sole candidate for the Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency at the Ohanso Ndoki Playground.

Moved by the circumstances surrounding the child’s birth and the loss of her mother, the APC candidate announced that he had enrolled Rejoice on his company’s payroll, committing to pay her N100,000 monthly to cater for her feeding and other welfare needs.

He also promised to maintain regular contact with the child and monitor her wellbeing, assuring the family that she would not be left to face the challenges of growing up without maternal care alone.

“Today, I have officially adopted Rejoice Okekenwa Ekeke as my seventh grandchild. I have enrolled her in my company’s payroll to receive N100,000 every month for feeding. I will continually come to check on her wellbeing. Go and tell her family that God has remembered them,” Nwogu declared.

The gesture brought an emotional dimension to the political gathering, transforming an occasion of political endorsement into an expression of humanity, compassion and concern for a vulnerable child.

For a family confronted with the painful loss of a mother shortly after childbirth, the commitment offers more than financial assistance; it represents a promise of sustained support and reassurance that the little girl has people willing to stand by her.

Nwogu’s intervention also underscores the importance of extending leadership beyond political ambitions to practical acts of kindness that touch individual lives, particularly those of vulnerable members of society.

His decision to assume responsibility for Rejoice’s welfare and formally welcome her into his family as his seventh grandchild has drawn attention to the humanitarian dimension of his public engagements.

The occasion further featured a N100,000 donation by Chief Okey Kanu towards the child’s upkeep.

While the Ndoki Liberation Assembly’s endorsement centred on political representation, Nwogu’s gesture towards little Rejoice offered a poignant reminder that the impact of leadership can also be measured by concern for those who cannot speak for themselves.
