A prominent community leader, High Chief Alozie Ogbuti, has formally defected to the Labour Party, citing confidence in the administration of Alex Chioma Otti and the developmental strides of Ginger O. Onwusibe.
Ogbuti was officially received into the party on Saturday at his residence in Umuisiukwu Eziama Ntigha. The event was attended by the member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Onwusibe, alongside Matthew C. Ekwuribe, Chinenye Ukaegbu, and Alvan Chima.
Speaking at the event, Ogbuti said his decision to join the Labour Party was driven by conviction, noting what he described as Governor Otti’s outstanding performance across Abia State within a short period in office. He also praised Onwusibe’s representation, particularly highlighting a large-scale empowerment programme held on February 14, 2026.
He pledged his full support for the Labour Party’s success in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, Onwusibe welcomed Ogbuti into the party, describing him as a respected and philanthropic figure whose membership would strengthen the party’s structure in Amasaa Ntigha Ward and beyond. He assured the new entrant of recognition as a key stakeholder and encouraged other constituents to join the party in support of the state government’s agenda.
Other dignitaries at the event included Fidelis Ihemere, Nwazuo Nwogu, Marshall Ugochukwu Ochionu, Chima Nwosu, and Hope Osuagwu, among others.
