The Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ginger O. Onwusibe, has engaged government teachers in Isiala Ngwa North in an interactive session aimed at reviewing developments in the state’s education sector and workers’ welfare.
The meeting, held yesterday, provided an opportunity for the lawmaker and the teachers to discuss the achievements of the administration of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, across various sectors.
Onwusibe particularly commended Governor Otti for fulfilling his commitment to the regular payment of civil servants’ salaries on or before the 28th of every month, as well as for the various welfare incentives provided for workers in the state.
He urged the teachers to continue supporting the Otti administration and other Labour Party office holders, stressing that the government’s policies were geared towards improving workers’ welfare and advancing the education sector.
Responding, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Isiala Ngwa North Chapter, and the Education Secretary pledged their support for the Otti administration. They expressed appreciation to the governor for interventions aimed at improving teachers’ welfare and used the occasion to highlight some of the challenges confronting teachers in the constituency.
The interactive session was attended by several stakeholders and dignitaries, including former Deputy Chairman, Hon. Uchenna Nwanbuko; Hon. Chinenye Ukaegbu; Hon. Alvan Chima; and other stakeholders.
