A kidnapped lady has been rescued by the police following the quick intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Eleme Division, Ogale, in Rivers State.
The incident reportedly occurred last night in the Alode area of Eleme Local Government Area, where the woman was allegedly kidnapped and being transported by suspected kidnappers in a tricycle, popularly known as a keke.
According to reports, the suspected kidnappers encountered the DPO of Eleme Division, Ogale, alongside some Customs officers while travelling along the road.
The security personnel reportedly engaged the suspects, who, apparently overwhelmed by the intervention, abandoned the keke and fled into the bush, leaving the victim inside the vehicle.
The DPO reportedly pursued the fleeing suspects, leading to their eventual apprehension around the Oyigbo Road area.
The kidnapped lady was subsequently rescued and taken to safety.
The quick response of the DPO and the other security personnel has attracted commendation, particularly for their timely intervention, which helped secure the victim’s safe rescue and led to the arrest of the suspected kidnappers.
