Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has reportedly died, according to sources close to his family who spoke to SaharaReporters.
The sources reportedly confirmed the development on Monday, although details surrounding the circumstances of his death remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
“Uduaghan is no more; he is dead,” one of the sources was quoted as saying.
The reported death comes months after the former governor’s family dismissed rumours of his demise that circulated on social media in June.
The earlier reports, which spread across Facebook and WhatsApp on Wednesday, June 26, sparked concern among residents and political stakeholders in Delta State.
However, Uduaghan’s media aide, Henry Unini, debunked the claims at the time, insisting that the former governor was alive and receiving medical attention.
“I can tell you for a fact that Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan is alive,” Unini said in response to the reports.
He criticised the circulation of unverified information about the death of prominent individuals, stressing that such claims should be properly verified before publication.
Unini acknowledged at the time that the former governor had been experiencing health challenges but maintained that he was receiving appropriate medical care and recuperating.
“It is now common knowledge that Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has been sick, but he is receiving proper medical care,” he said.
The aide also thanked friends, well-wishers and residents of Delta State who contacted the family to ascertain the former governor’s condition, while urging them to continue praying for Uduaghan and his family.
As of the time of filing this report, further details surrounding the latest report of Uduaghan’s death had yet to emerge.
Editor’s note: The report of his death remains attributed to sources cited by SaharaReporters. Independent confirmation from the family or an official source should be obtained before publishing the claim as established fact.
