The Atiku Abubakar 2027 presidential movement gained significant ground in Abia State on Saturday, 17th October, 2026, as Senator Austin Akobundu, Director-General and Campaign Manager of the ADC/Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, inaugurated a powerful new support structure across two key Local Government Areas.
Enthusiastic supporters turned out in Osisioma Ngwa and Isiala Ngwa North LGAs in their numbers for the official launch of the Atiku/Akobundu Vanguard. The historic events drew a broad coalition of ADC leaders, candidates, respected community elders, grassroots mobilizers, vibrant youth groups, and women leaders from across Abia Central and beyond, signaling deep-rooted confidence in Atiku’s vision for Nigeria.
Addressing the energised crowd, Senator Akobundu declared that the widespread hardship facing Nigerians will give way to relief and prosperity under an Atiku presidency. He spotlighted Atiku’s proven economic blueprint, anchored on restoring a targeted, transparent fuel subsidy designed to slash the cost of transport, food, housing, education, and other essential needs for millions of families.
“President Tinubu’s policies have pushed Nigerians into unprecedented hardship and made us the poverty capital of the world,” Akobundu stated. “But Atiku Abubakar comes with the experience, compassion, and competence to reverse this decline. He will make Nigeria affordable, productive, and respected again.”
He described Atiku as a “detribalized leader, seasoned administrator, and unifying elder statesman” with the national reach and policy depth to govern Nigeria as one united country. “Atiku’s choice of leadership reflects his broadmindedness,” Akobundu added, citing his own appointment as DG/Campaign Manager as evidence of Atiku’s commitment to inclusivity and competence.
Senator Akobundu emphasised Atiku’s specific commitment to the Southeast, including his pledge to fully reactivate the Eastern maritime port corridor. “This single policy will unlock the Southeast to global trade, create thousands of jobs, and restore our region as an economic powerhouse,” he said. “Atiku has a clear, actionable plan to revive the economy of the Southeast alongside every other region. With the Atiku Abubakar/Rotimi Amaechi ticket, no region will be left behind,” he assured.
