The Women’s Wing of the Alayi Development Union has assured the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, of their support and prayers as he seeks election to the House of Representatives in 2027.
The women made the declaration on Friday during their 2026 August Meeting, held at the Alayi Central School, Alayi, which was attended by Dr. Anyaso and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the gathering, Dr. Anyaso explained why he decided to attend the event despite having visited Alayi earlier in the week.
“I was here on Sunday, and when I was invited again for this August Meeting, I was contemplating sending someone. But because of the respect I have for Alayi people, I decided to come myself,” he said.
He attributed what he described as the limited presence of substandard federal projects across Bende to what he considered inadequate representation, while commending Governor Alex Otti for his leadership and intellectual capacity.
“The only reason substandard projects are in Bende is because of failure of representation. If you see what Governor Alex Otti is doing, you will know that he is a first-class brain, unlike those constructing that breaks down after two months “Anyaso stated.
The Labour Party candidate also said Governor Otti had surrounded himself with people of integrity and disclosed that several of the interventions he had undertaken across Bende had been funded personally.
“I want to assure the people of Alayi, all what I have been doing in Bende is from my pocket. But by the grace of God, come 2027, God will send us to Abuja,” he said.
Anyaso further promised that, if elected, he would pursue quality and transparent development projects in Bende, stressing that the constituency deserved projects executed to the highest standards.
“While they are doing substandard projects, it is because they are using companies they registered themselves because of kickbacks. But under our watch, Bende will begin to see Julius Berger handling projects,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the women, the President-General of the Women’s Wing of the Alayi Development Union, Mrs. Jane Okorie, prayed for Dr. Anyaso and assured him of their support.
“For taking care of Alayi women, that which is your heart’s desire will be granted come 2027,” she prayed.
The gathering brought together women from across Alayi and provided an opportunity for interaction, prayers and discussions on community development and political representation.
Among the dignitaries who attended the August Meeting were the Abia State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Uche, and the Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Anya, the Director of Women Mobilization of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Mrs Ezinne Okorie among others.
