Senator Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu, Col. (rtd) is a decorated military officer, entrepreneur, and public servant with a record of discipline, delivery, and development. Born March 10, 1956 in Ikwuano, Abia State, he is Ochiagha of his people, Senator representing Abia Central, and ADC’s duly elected Senatorial candidate, May 21, 2026.

A Nigerian Defence Academy Course 22 graduate, Col. Akobundu (rtd) served Nigeria with distinction for over 2 decades. He held key command and staff roles including Aide-de-Camp, Military Assistant, and Military Technical Assistant to governors. He was honored with the Chief of Army Staff Award, Meritorious Service Star, and Forces Service Star. He retired in 2000 and later served as Minister of State for Defence under President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
