Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum E. Orji, popularly known as Ikuku, has congratulated the people of Abia State on the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state.
In a goodwill message marking the anniversary, Orji joined the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and Abians at home and in the diaspora to celebrate the milestone.

According to him, Abia, over the past 35 years, has remained a state defined by enterprise, resilience, talent, culture and immense potential.
He commended the contributions of traders, entrepreneurs, farmers, professionals, students, artisans and public servants, describing them as the driving force behind the state’s growth and development.
Orji, however, said the anniversary should also provide an opportunity for Abians to reflect on the state’s journey and renew their collective commitment to building a society where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.
He emphasized the need to create a future where young people can look ahead with confidence, while good governance, development, peace and prosperity remain shared priorities.
The former Speaker expressed optimism that with unity of purpose, visionary leadership and the determination of the people, Abia can unlock its full potential and leave behind a stronger and more prosperous state for future generations.
He concluded by wishing Abians a happy 35th anniversary and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Abia State and its people.
“Happy 35th Anniversary to our dear Abia State! May God continue to bless Abia State and all her people. Long live Abia State! Long live the people of Abia!” he stated.
Rt. Hon. Chinedum E. Orji served as Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023.
