The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its final list of candidates following the conclusion of its appeal process, confirming a major change in its lineup for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the list released by the National Chairman and National Secretary of the APC on June 29, 2026, the incumbent member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, has been disqualified and will no longer fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election.
In a significant political development, the party has nominated seasoned politician and former Chairman of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Chief Barr. Samuel Okezie Nwogu, as its candidate for the federal legislative seat.
Nwogu also previously represented Abia State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
