Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, is reportedly set to officially defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC on Monday.

According to sources quoted by TheCable, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC governors, and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) are expected to formally receive Diri into the ruling party.

Insiders familiar with the development revealed that Governor Diri, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on October 15, has been holding discreet negotiations with top APC figures to finalise his move.

A party source disclosed that the delay in Diri’s defection was strategic — aimed at ensuring the smooth integration of PDP elements into the APC’s Bayelsa political structure and avoiding internal conflicts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
