Former Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has dismissed the decision of the Rivers State House of Assembly to investigate the state’s expenditures during his six-month tenure.

The Assembly had recently resolved to probe financial activities under Ibas, a move that may set the stage for a political confrontation between the retired naval officer and the lawmakers.

Reacting to the development, Ibas described the Assembly’s resolution as “mere commentary,” insisting that any attempt to scrutinize his administration was equivalent to probing the President, who appointed him, as well as the National Assembly, which provided oversight during his tenure.

The unfolding situation suggests a brewing clash between the former administrator and the state legislature over accountability and constitutional roles.
