The APC candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, has unveiled a comprehensive women and girl-child empowerment agenda as part of his manifesto for the constituency.
Under his priority focus on Women Empowerment and Female-Led Programmes, Orji said he would work with market women and female-led cooperatives to introduce empowerment programmes, skills acquisition and upskilling initiatives.
He also pledged to collaborate with financial institutions and banks to facilitate access to loans and soft grants for rural businesswomen, with the aim of strengthening their businesses and improving household livelihoods.
According to him, strategic programmes targeting the girl-child would also be developed and implemented to promote skills acquisition, health awareness and general wellbeing.
Orji further promised to partner with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society organisations (CSOs) to advance girl-child development programmes across Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South.
The APC candidate said he would encourage young girls and women to pursue careers in Science, Technology and Engineering, while supporting scholarships, competitions, internships and practical training opportunities.
He added that his administration would seek partnerships with technology companies, educational institutions, financial organisations, development agencies and private investors to expand economic and professional opportunities for women in the constituency.
The initiatives, he said, are aimed at creating sustainable opportunities for women and girls while equipping them with the skills, resources and support needed to become economically independent and active contributors to community development.
Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji is campaigning under the banner of the “Ikuku Hurricane of Change.”
