The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ukwa East/West Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, has received endorsements and prayers for electoral victory from prominent traditional rulers and community leaders in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.
The traditional rulers, including Chief G.I. Akara, Eze Dr Nwankwo, Eze Chimerem Eze I of Ikwueke Autonomous Community, and HRH F.E. Otuka, Eze Udo I of Obikoro, Ohanso, gave their support during Nwogu’s consultation visits to their palaces on the 4th of November,
The consultations formed part of Nwogu’s ongoing engagement with traditional institutions and critical stakeholders across Ukwa East and West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the visits, Nwogu said he considered the consultation necessary to seek the blessings and prayers of traditional rulers as well as strengthen the relationship between the two local government areas.
“I have come to consult with you and seek your prayers as I pursue my aspiration to represent Ukwa East and West in the House of Representatives. If elected, I will provide effective representation and ensure that our leaders and stakeholders come together to identify and address the challenges confronting our people,” he said.
The APC candidate also addressed concerns surrounding reports of plans to purchase vehicles for traditional rulers in Ukwa West, clarifying that his commitment to the traditional institution would not exclude their counterparts in Ukwa East.
He pledged to provide vehicles for traditional rulers in Ukwa East if elected, stressing that his previous record in public service demonstrated his commitment to equitable development across the constituency.
“If, by God’s grace, I win the election, I will also purchase vehicles for the traditional rulers in Ukwa East. I did not neglect the Ndoki people during my tenure as Chairman of ASOPADEC. Our scholarship programmes benefited students from Ndoki, many of whom have become professionals today. We also executed other development projects in Ukwa East during my tenure,” Nwogu stated.
Responding, Eze Dr Nwankwo, Eze Chimerem Eze I of Ikwueke Autonomous Community, commended Nwogu for extending his consultation to the traditional institution, describing Ukwa East and West as one people with a common destiny.
He expressed confidence in the APC candidate’s aspiration and pledged the community’s support, while appealing for the provision of solar-powered streetlights to improve security and enhance economic activities in the area.
The traditional ruler also offered prayers for Nwogu’s success in the January 16, 2027 election.
Similarly, Chief G.I. Akara described Nwogu’s candidacy as a credible choice for the constituency, declaring his support for the APC candidate and urging other political stakeholders, irrespective of party affiliation, to rally behind him.
He cited Nwogu’s experience in public administration and previous leadership positions as evidence of his capacity to provide effective representation.
In his remarks, HRH F.E. Otuka, Eze Udo I of Obikoro, Ohanso, expressed appreciation to Nwogu and his entourage for honouring his palace with the visit.
The monarch described Nwogu as a candidate with the experience and capacity to deliver on his promises, assuring him of the support of his autonomous community.
“My autonomous community will vote for you and Prince Paul Ikonne because I have confidence in you,” the traditional ruler said.
Nwogu, in turn, appreciated the traditional rulers for their warm reception, prayers and counsel, reiterating that Ukwa East and West must work together as one constituency to achieve meaningful development.
He maintained that his aspiration was driven by the need to strengthen unity, promote inclusive development and ensure that the interests of all communities were adequately represented at the National Assembly.
The consultation was attended by members of the Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu ‘Igwe Bu Ike 2027’ Campaign Council, women leaders and other supporters of his political aspiration.
