The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has endorsed the former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Enyinnaya Chinedum Orji, for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was contained in a statement signed by COSEYL President-General, Goodluck Ibem, and Publicity Secretary, Okey Nwaogu, and made available to journalists in Owerri.
The group said the 2027 contest should be determined by candidates’ track records and measurable achievements rather than campaign promises.
According to COSEYL, the election presents an opportunity for voters to assess proven performance against unfulfilled promises.
“The 2027 election is not just another political contest. It is a defining moment to choose between proven performance and empty rhetoric, between visible achievements and unfulfilled promises,” the group stated.
COSEYL said Orji distinguished himself during his tenure as Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly through what it described as purposeful leadership and initiatives that positively impacted the lives of citizens.
The South East youth body further argued that Orji’s record in office remained a reference point for assessing other political aspirants.
The group consequently called on traditional rulers, youth and women organisations, market associations, professionals, religious leaders, students and other eligible voters across Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South to support Orji’s bid for the federal constituency seat in 2027.
