Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and APC candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, has warmly welcomed the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Abia State, describing her visit as a significant boost to women’s empowerment and the preservation of Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
In a goodwill message issued to mark the First Lady’s visit, Orji said her tour of the historic Akwete Weaving Cooperative Society demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting indigenous enterprises and supporting local industries.
He noted that Akwete weaving remains a major source of livelihood for many families in the state and represents the resilience, creativity, and industrious spirit of the people.
According to him, the First Lady’s presence in Abia would inspire women, artisans, and young entrepreneurs by assuring them that their contributions to national development are recognized and valued at the highest level.
Orji expressed confidence that the visit would attract greater national attention and investment towards revitalizing the Akwete weaving industry, creating employment opportunities, stimulating economic growth, and promoting cultural tourism.
The former Speaker also prayed for God’s continued wisdom, strength, and good health for Senator Tinubu as she continues to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in serving the nation.
