In yet another demonstration of people-oriented representation and community-centred leadership, Senator Austin Akobundu has delivered more dividends of democracy to his constituents with the installation of solar-powered streetlights at Ahia Ugba, Umuvo Community in Isiala Ngwa South LGA.

His flagship Light-Up Abia Central Initiative has become a beacon of hope across the six LGAs of Abia Central. From markets to communities, from security formations to institutions of learning, darkness is giving way to light, fear is giving way to enterprise, and abandonment is giving way to a strong sense of belonging.

Traders now trade beyond dusk. Residents now move freely at night. Insecurity has been pushed back and economic life has been boosted. The once dark Ahia Ugba that was always lonely at night now wears a new, alluring ambience that has translated to increased sales and renewed confidence for traders.

Jubilant youths and community leaders could not hide their joy. They described Senator Akobundu, who is the African Democratic Congress (ADC) flagbearer for Abia Central in the 2027 general elections, as a true leader who has brought government closer to the grassroots than ever before. According to them, beyond beautifying their community and enhancing security, the project has restored their pride and given them a genuine sense of inclusion in the Abia Central project.

They were unanimous in their prayers, appreciation and declaration: Akobundu has earned their trust, and they will stand solidly with him in his future political aspirations.
