It was a day of joy, commendations, prayers and solidarity at Umuakumanu-Obegu in Isi-Mkporobe Autonomous Community, Ukwa East Local Government Area as the women of the Kindred, formally adopted Chief Barr. Samuel Okezie Nwogu, APC Candidate for Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, as their preferred candidate for the 2027 general election.

The adoption took place during the 2026 August Meeting held at the Umuakumanu village hall. The event drew together a large number of women from across the village who gathered for their annual Women August Meeting to deliberate on issues affecting the women and to foster unity and peace among the women in the community.

Speaking to the elated women, Chief Nwogu eulogized them for their strength, resilience, and critical role in nation-building and community development, while commending them for their commitment towards the development of their community and for the unity and love existing among them.

He noted that his political journey was built on service to the people, starting from the grassroots, and assured the women that their welfare would be a top priority in his representation

Chief Nwogu thanked the women for the confidence reposed in him and pledged not to disappoint them. He urged them to continue to be peaceful, united, and to serve as ambassadors of good governance in their respective homes.

In a unanimous resolution, the women of Umuakumanu-Obegu adopted Chief Sam Nwogu as their consensus candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal House of Representatives seat in 2027.

Speaking on behalf of the women, the President of Umuakumanu Women, Chief (Mrs) Bertha Nwachi, described Chief Nwogu as a man who has the fear of God, respect for women and a clean record of service and assured him that the women will mobilize hundred percent support for him because they trust his ability and sincerity to represent them well.

The women, however, prayed for Chief Nwogu’s success and presented him with gifts and traditional blessings for his victory in 2027.
