Residents, traders, and other stakeholders at Miami Market in Inner Galaxy Steel Company at Umuahala Obuzor have pledged their support for the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
The stakeholders made their position known during the scheduled visit of Chief Nwogu and members of his campaign team to the Maimi market on Tuesday as part of his consultations with communities and interest groups across the constituency.
Nwogu was received by residents, business owners, Chinese workers, trailer drivers and other members of the market community amid cheers and expressions of support.
Those who accompanied Nwogu on the visit included Hon. Tony Mezie Nwaubani, former ASOPADEC Sole Administrator, Barr. Henry Chilaka; former Chairman of Ukwa West Local Government Area; Chief Felix Ebere; Hon. Nwaobiwe; Mr Chetachi Ahukanna; Comrade Elechi Maxwell; Elder Ezedinachi Kanu; Solitary Movement LGA Coordinator, Mr Innocent Chiuwa; and other dignitaries.
Speaking on behalf of the market, the Secretary, Charles Enyite, said the community was pleased to receive Nwogu, adding that residents had expectations which they wanted the candidate to address if elected.
Among the requests presented to Nwogu were representation on his campaign council, support for a campaign bus, assistance with the market’s ongoing building project, provision of boreholes, improved attention to schools and electricity, and the establishment of a polling unit in the area.
Enyite said the community’s confidence in Nwogu was influenced by his previous public service experience and what residents described as his accessibility. He added that the residents were prepared to support Nwogu’s candidacy in the 2027 election.
Representatives of the drivers operating in the market also expressed support for the APC candidate, commending his accessibility and engagement with the people.
Responding, Nwogu thanked the residents and stakeholders for the reception, assuring them that their concerns would receive attention. He said his political mandate was centred on the people and acknowledged the requests concerning representation on the campaign council and the establishment of a polling unit.
Nwogu urged the residents to remain hopeful and trust in God, whom he described as the ultimate source of direction and success.
The market chairman, Onwukwe Nwankwo, thereafter declared the community’s support for Nwogu, saying the market had welcomed him and identified with his 2027 ambition.
The visit provided Chief Nwogu the opportunity to engage directly with traders, residents and other stakeholders as he continues his grassroots consultations across the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
