Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Atuma, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia Central Senatorial Primaries conducted across the six local government areas of Abia Central Senatorial District.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Hon. Barrister A. C. Thomas Nkoro, said three aspirants contested in the primaries — Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Rep. Sam Onuigbo and Hon. Emeka Atuma.
According to the results announced:
- Senator Nkechi Nwaogu polled 11,451 votes
- Rep. Sam Onuigbo secured 5,833 votes
- Hon. Emeka Atuma scored 36,935 votes
Barrister Nkoro subsequently declared Hon. Emeka Atuma winner of the APC Abia Central Senatorial Primaries.
The exercise and declaration of results were conducted in the presence of representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
