The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has officially zoned its governorship ticket for the 2027 general elections to the Abia Central Senatorial District.
In a press statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the decision was announced as a directive to guide party members and intending aspirants in the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of the
The party stated that the zoning arrangement was adopted in the interest of equity, justice, and fair play, emphasizing its commitment to balanced representation across the state’s three senatorial districts.
According to the statement, the move aligns with Abia’s long-standing tradition of power rotation among its zones since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999. The APC further justified the decision by noting that the party’s current state chairman is from Abia North, while Abia South produced the immediate past governor.
“It is therefore just and equitable for Abia Central to produce the next governor on the APC platform,” the statement read.
The party also called on aspirants and stakeholders from other zones to respect the zoning arrangement and support the party’s collective goal of securing victory in the 2027 elections.
