The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Austin Akobundu, who is also the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the seat and Director-General of the ADC/Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, has successfully delivered the following projects across the constituency, with several others still ongoing:
1. Human Capital Development
i. awarded scholarships to students of higher institutions from Abia Central
ii. Sponsored 113 constituents on full 3-year scholarship to the National Teachers’ Institute to improve availability and quality of teachers in the District
iii. Sponsored free training for over 400 secondary school students of Abia Central Senatorial District on embedded systems engineering, robotics, and AI
iv. Sponsored the training of 100 youths on farming and sewing, after which he gave out brand new sewing machines and other start-up items, including cash to the beneficiaries
v. Sponsored the free training of 360 youths in high-demand digital fields such as UI/UX Design, Web Design, Professional Graphics Design, Cyber Security Systems and Operations, Digital Marketing, Forex Trading, Software Development and Data Science
vi. Sponsored the training of another 400 youths on cosmetology and paint making with the beneficiaries given cash awards
vii. Sponsored a 2-day capacity-building programme on peace and conflict management for traditional rulers and other community institutions
viii. Sponsored a hugely successful medical outreach for constituents in LGAs of Abia Central Senatorial District
ix. Gave N200,000 cash as grants to 114 students of Abia Central origin in higher institutions across the country
2. Physical Infrastructure
i. Construction of Oloko-Amizi Road
ii. Oloko-Ugbuebulle Road
iii. Ongoing construction of skills acquisition centres, one for each LGA of the constituency. Those of Ikwuano and Isiala Ngwa LGAs are nearing completion
