The 2027 Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has vowed that the people of Bende will no longer accept what he described as failed projects, poor infrastructure and inadequate representation.
Anyaso made the remarks during the official presentation of a brand-new ambulance to Primary Health Care Centres in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
While speaking at the event, Anyaso directed his criticism at the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, questioning the level of development and Federal Government presence in Bende despite Kalu’s position as Deputy Speaker.
“We will never reinforce failure in Bende,” Anyaso declared.
He questioned why Bende had yet to witness what he described as significant Federal Government presence and major infrastructural projects, despite having a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
According to him, Bende deserves an iconic project executed by a Grade A contractor that would have lasting impact on the people.
“We can’t have a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and not see positive impact,” he said.
Anyaso also questioned why the Umuahia-Bende road remains in a bad state, despite the constituency having a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“If you can’t fix the road from Umuahia to Bende, you are a complete failure,” he said.
He further alleged that projects attracted to Bende by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu had failed, specifically citing a hall constructed in his community.
“All the projects he attracted in Bende have all failed, most especially the hall he built in my community. It is gone; you can’t stay there and do anything when it is raining,” Anyaso alleged.
He also questioned why Bende does not have a major general hospital where residents can access comprehensive healthcare services.
“You can’t be a Deputy Speaker and not have a major general hospital in Bende where people visit,” he said.
Anyaso said Bende should no longer experience what he described as “this type of wickedness,” stressing that the people deserved projects that would positively impact their lives.
Speaking on his political ambition, Anyaso said he believes his emergence as the Labour Party candidate is part of a divine plan to deliver meaningful development to the people of Bende.
He said the people had waited since 2019 and expressed confidence that their expectations would soon be fulfilled.
“We have waited since 2019 and now it shall come to pass. God has said so. God has sent me to deliver the people of Bende,” he said.
The event, held at the Bende Local Government Council Headquarters, also featured the presentation of the ambulance to the Primary Health Care Centres, with Anyaso saying the vehicle would help respond to emergencies and serve residents of the area.

Present at the occasion were the Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Bassy Uwabunkeonye; his Deputy, Mrs. Ngozi Anya; former Chairman of Bende LGA, Hon. Ukwu Rocks Emma; traditional rulers; community leaders and other dignitaries.
The highpoint of the event was the cutting of Anyaso’s 46th birthday cake alongside staff of Bende Local Government Area.
