Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has defended the Rainbow Coalition led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying there is nothing wrong with the political alliance supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Aiyedatiwa spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he also clarified his relationship with Wike and reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.

The governor said he had no problem with Wike’s involvement in the Rainbow Coalition, particularly as the group has expressed support for President Tinubu.

“If the Rainbow Coalition is supporting President Tinubu, what is wrong with that?” Aiyedatiwa said.

He, however, stressed that the political situation in Ondo State remained firmly aligned with the APC.

“I don’t have any problem with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, but in my state, it’s APC all the way,” the governor stated.

Aiyedatiwa also recalled Wike’s support for his political ambition when he contested the Ondo governorship election on the APC platform.

“I have a relationship with Wike. He supported me when I ran for governor under the APC, despite being a PDP member. He didn’t support the PDP candidate at the time,” he said.

The governor’s comments come amid ongoing political realignments and the emergence of new alliances ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
