The Abia State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned members of the public against accepting or circulating unverified political reports attributed to Zik FM, reaffirming its support for Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election and Chief Sir Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah as its governorship candidate in Abia State.

In a statement issued by the party’s Abia State chapter and the Etugo Divine Mandate, the NDC urged its members, supporters, media organisations and the general public to verify political information through the party’s officially recognised communication channels before sharing or publishing such reports.

The party expressed concern that the circulation of unverified information could create confusion, misunderstanding and unnecessary divisions among political stakeholders and residents of Abia State.

Reacting to reports surrounding a proposed one-million-man march associated with the Labour Party, the Vote Peter Obi movement and the Vote Alex Otti campaign, the NDC clarified that its support for Peter Obi’s presidential ambition does not affect its commitment to fielding its own governorship candidate in Abia State.

According to the party, while it supports Peter Obi for President in 2027, Chief Sir Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah remains its preferred candidate for the Abia State governorship election.

The party maintained that supporting a presidential candidate from another political platform does not prevent its members from backing the NDC’s governorship candidate, urging supporters to understand the distinction between the two elections.

The NDC further called on Ndi Abia to prioritise candidates who demonstrate commitment to good governance, accountability, transparency and sustainable development.

It also appealed to radio and television stations, newspapers, online news platforms, bloggers and social media influencers to verify political statements with authorised party officials before presenting them as the official position of the NDC.

The party emphasised the importance of responsible journalism and accurate information dissemination across the 17 local government areas of Abia State, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.

Reaffirming its political position, the NDC urged its supporters and the general public to disregard unverified claims and rely on official party communications for accurate information regarding its electoral decisions.

The party reiterated its campaign message: “Vote Peter Obi for President and Chief Sir Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah for Governor of Abia State in 2027.”

The statement was issued by the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Abia State Chapter, in conjunction with the Etugo Divine Mandate.
