The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has personally visited Mrs. Mary Ejiuwa, the widow of the late Mr. Ejiuwa Okorie of Amaokai Community in Ugwueke, Bende Local Government Area, whose husband tragically lost his life after being swept away by flood following torrential rainfall in the area.
The visit came days after Dr. Anyaso had dispatched members of his Campaign Council to the community to assess the situation and provide immediate assistance to the bereaved family. He subsequently travelled to Ugwueke on Tuesday to personally meet the widow and offer his condolences.
Visibly concerned by the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and the condition of the widow’s residence, Dr. Anyaso urged Mrs. Ejiuwa to remain strong, assuring her that she would not be left to face the difficult period alone.
“Take heart. It was not the making of man, but how God allowed it. It is called a natural disaster.”
The Labour Party candidate was particularly moved by the condition of the widow’s mud house and immediately directed that she be relocated to temporary accommodation.
He further announced that the existing mud structure would be demolished and replaced with a standard two-bedroom bungalow, which he said would be built for the widow and her family.
“Please be strong. I would like to demolish this mud house and build a standard two-bedroom bungalow. On behalf of my wife, please relocate her so that we can make it a nice two-bedroom house.”
Dr. Anyaso also gave the widow an assurance that she would continue to receive support as she navigates life after the loss of her husband.
“We won’t abandon you. We won’t also leave you stranded. We will continue to look after you.”
Accompanying Dr. Anyaso on the visit were the former Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Ukwu Rocks Emma; Director-General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Organization, Pastor Dike Okechukwu; Chairman of the Advisory Council, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha; Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Anya, among other members of the delegation.
The delegation assured the widow that she would not be left alone and that arrangements would commence immediately for her temporary relocation and the construction of her new home.
