Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said he may retire from active politics after completing his tenure as governor.
Otti, who is currently seeking re-election for a second term, made the disclosure in Umuahia, the state capital, on Thursday.
The governor said he was not interested in contesting for a Senate seat after leaving office, adding that he would rather make way for younger people to take over.
«“I will not even run for the Senate because I am not interested. After this one, I will retire. I want to make way for the young people to take over,” Otti said.»
He stressed that one of the most important things a leader can give the people is good governance.
“The most important thing you can give people is good governance,” the governor said.
Otti also indicated that he would not seek to remain influential by attempting to dictate how his successor should run the state after leaving office.
