Dr. Kasarachi Enyinna Michael, senatorial candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Abia South, has officially commenced his campaign with a pledge to provide purposeful, accessible and accountable representation to the people of the senatorial district.
Speaking at the campaign inaugural ceremony, Michael said his ambition was beyond occupying a Senate seat, describing the campaign as the beginning of a movement focused on responsible leadership, meaningful development and practical solutions to the challenges confronting Abia South.
He identified poor infrastructure, inadequate electricity supply, insecurity, limited economic opportunities and insufficient federal presence as some of the major challenges facing the people of the district.
According to him, residents of Abia South, including traders, entrepreneurs, farmers, young people and rural communities, deserve better representation that would effectively attract federal attention and development.
Michael outlined infrastructure, economic development, power, security, youth empowerment, healthcare, education and agriculture as key areas of his proposed legislative agenda.
He pledged to champion federal intervention in critical roads and infrastructure linking markets, businesses, farms and communities, while promoting policies aimed at strengthening Aba’s commercial and industrial economy and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises across the district.
On electricity and industrial development, the candidate said he would support credible efforts to improve power supply and create an enabling environment for businesses and industries to thrive.
He also promised to work with relevant federal agencies and stakeholders to strengthen security, protect lives and property, and expand opportunities for young people through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, access to finance and strategic partnerships.
Michael further said he would advocate stronger federal support for healthcare and education, while promoting agricultural investment, agro-processing and value-chain development across rural communities.
Emphasising the importance of effective representation, he promised to ensure that Abia South has a strong voice in the National Assembly and receives the federal attention required to accelerate development.
The NDC candidate also appealed to party members, women, youths, elders, traditional leaders, traders, professionals, farmers, artisans and other stakeholders to work collectively towards the success of the campaign.
He promised that his campaign would be conducted with dignity, saying he would not insult opponents or seek to divide the people along religious or personal lines.
Instead, he said the campaign would be based on competence, character, ideas, experience and service.
Reflecting on his entrepreneurial background, Michael said his experience had taught him that sustainable progress requires vision, planning, discipline, investment, execution and accountability.
He urged supporters to take the campaign to every ward, community, market, street and household across Abia South, stressing that the movement should be bigger than any individual.
Michael concluded by calling for unity and collective action, declaring that the time for waiting was over and that the people of Abia South were ready for a new phase of representation focused on development, prosperity and security.
