The socio-cultural organisation, Igwe Bu-Ike Odinma ASA, has formally adopted Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu as its consensus candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency election in the 2027 general elections.

The group made its position known on Friday, August 21st, 2026, when a delegation of its members paid a courtesy visit to Chief Nwogu as part of efforts to identify with and express solidarity for his aspiration to represent the people of Ukwa East and Ukwa West in the Federal House of Representatives.

The visit, which was marked by expressions of solidarity, unity and optimism, brought together members of the organisation who said they were determined to contribute to the emergence of quality representation for the constituency through Chief Nwogu.

Receiving the delegation, Chief Nwogu expressed appreciation for what he described as the group’s uncommon show of love, confidence and commitment to the progress of the people of Ukwa.

He commended the organisation for identifying with his political aspiration and assured its members that, if elected, he would approach the responsibility of representing the constituency with dignity, experience, humility and dedication.

Chief Nwogu further called on sons and daughters of Ukwa, irrespective of political affiliation or community background, to unite around a common vision of improved representation, economic opportunities and sustainable development.

He said the development of Ukwa required collective effort, adding that the region could achieve greater progress when its people speak with one voice and place the overall interest of the constituency above individual considerations.

Earlier, members of Igwe Bu-Ike Odinma ASA stressed the need for Ukwa East and Ukwa West to forge greater unity in determining the future political direction of the constituency.

The organisation said it was seeking a representative who would be accessible to the people and committed to addressing issues affecting the constituency, particularly employment opportunities, infrastructure, empowerment and other areas of human and community development.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its General Coordinator, Comrade Onyenkwere Ebere, assured Chief Nwogu of the organisation’s support and solidarity as he pursues his 2027 political ambition.

Ebere said the organisation’s objective was to galvanise support for Nwogu across the communities of Ukwa and mobilise residents around what it described as a project anchored on equity, transparency, accountability and development.

He said the group would take its mobilisation efforts to the grassroots, noting that support for the project would not be limited to political meetings but would extend to communities and wards across Ukwa.

The coordinator subsequently charged the organisation’s 10 Ward Coordinators to commence extensive grassroots mobilisation, including door-to-door engagements, to strengthen awareness and support for Chief Nwogu’s 2027 agenda.

According to him, the ward coordinators would play a critical role in taking the message of the organisation to the people and ensuring that the group maintains a strong presence across the constituency.

The organisation also emphasised the importance of collective action, urging the people of Ukwa to participate actively in the political process and make decisions that would, in its view, promote effective representation and meaningful development.

The high point of the visit was the formal adoption of Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu as the consensus candidate of Igwe Bu-Ike Odinma ASA for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency election in 2027.

The development adds to the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, as stakeholders and socio-cultural groups across Ukwa continue to engage aspirants and candidates on their expectations for the future representation and development of the constituency.
