The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu, has been honoured with the “Unique Leader” award by the women of Owaza Community.

Nwogu received the award during the 2026 Owaza Women August Meeting held at Owaza Central School, with the theme, “Women Empowerment for Development.”

The annual gathering attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and other dignitaries from within and outside Owaza.

In her welcome address, the Owaza General Women Leader, Mrs. Blessing Chidiadi Chimaobi, said the annual meeting was more than a social gathering, describing it as an avenue for women to reflect on issues affecting their families and communities, acquire new ideas, and work collectively towards sustainable development.

She expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of the women and their families over the past year, while emphasising the importance of peace, responsible parenting, education and economic empowerment.

Responding, Nwogu, who served as Chairman of the 2026 Owaza August Meeting celebration, commended the women for organising what he described as a colourful and peaceful event.

He called for continued unity among the women and solicited their support for his ambition to represent the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

“I am happy with what I am seeing among the entire Owaza women. May this priceless peace that has been restored be sustained,” Nwogu said.

He stressed that peace and unity remained essential ingredients for community development, noting that meaningful progress could only thrive in an atmosphere of harmony.

Nwogu further appealed to the women to support his candidacy in the February 2027 National Assembly election, saying he intended to consolidate the achievements recorded during his previous public service engagements.

Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Etitioha Autonomous Community, His Royal Majesty Eze Levi Obioma Nworgu, commended the women for organising the event and urged them to remain ambassadors of peace in their families, communities and villages.
