The announcement of his emergence was greeted with jubilation by delegates at the Kolpin Event Centre, Umuahia, venue of the party’s primary election. The jubilation follows the fact that Senator Akobundu remains the most credible candidate to fly the party’s flag and win the 2027 Abia Central Senatorial District election for the ADC.
With his years of experience in politics and public service at the highest level in the country, Akobundu possesses exceptional attributes and strategies to get victory in every electoral endeavour he has ever embarked upon. Such attributes embedded in his gentle mien and peaceful disposition have always turned out to be of immense advantage to him and his party.
Beyond these personal attributes of his are his drive for excellence and service delivery. Even though he got into the Senate about 6 months late, Senator Austin Akobundu has performed like a man who was aware that he needed to redeem the lost time. He immediately hit the ground running and has embarked on several projects that have truly impacted the people positively.
His human capital development initiatives are extraordinary. They cover training, skills acquisition, and empowerment programmes. For example, he sponsored the training of 300 constituents in paint manufacturing and cosmetics production after which cash support was given to each of the participants; several others were also trained in sewing and farming with cash support and new sewing machines also gifted the participants as empowerment items.
360 youths were trained in highly sought-after and competitive ICT fields like UI/UX Design, Web Design, Professional Graphics Design, Cyber Security Systems and Operations, Digital Marketing, Forex Trading, Software Development and Data Science. Another 400 were trained on embedded systems engineering, robotics, and AI. There have also been awards of scholarships/bursary to students of higher institutions and the sponsorship of 113 constituents on a fully paid three-year scholarship to the National Teachers Institute (NTI).
One of his most talked about initiatives was the recently concluded medical outreach that covered constituents in Ikwuano, Osisioma Ngwa, and Umuahia North LGAs. The second phase is earmarked to cover Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South, and Umuahia South LGAs.
Beyond such empowerment programmes, Senator Austin Akobundu has also attracted road projects and installed solar-powered streetlights in several communities and markets across the Senatorial District. Also, the construction of skills acquisition centres is ongoing.
These are all verifiable ventures of Senator Akobundu.
Not a man to rest on his laurels, he has earmarked several other projects, including provision of electric transformers, school renovations/fencing and furnishing, construction of lock-up shops, construction and furnishing of Primary Health Care Centres, erosion control works, among others, for execution soon, across the LGAs of the District. His usual mantra in the distribution of these projects and initiatives is that “No LGA will be left behind.”
It is based on the above that Senator Akobundu is indeed considered a blessing to ADC, Abia Central Senatorial District, Abia State, and, indeed, Nigeria as a whole!
In fact, his acceptance speech depicts a leader who is ready to lend his wings of goodwill to all candidates of ADC, even beyond Abia, to fly their tickets to success in their various contests come 2027.
Senator Akobundu is a goal!
ADC… Arise and Shine Nigeria!
