Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries held across the five local government areas of Abia North.

Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Mr. Chinedum Christian Kalu, said two aspirants contested in the primary election — Prof. Philip Nto and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
According to the Returning Officer, a total of 67,850 votes were cast during the exercise.
The results showed that Prof. Philip Nto polled 2,103 votes, while Senator Orji Uzor Kalu secured 65,651 votes to emerge winner of the APC Abia North Senatorial Primaries.
Mr. Chinedum Christian Kalu subsequently declared Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the duly elected APC candidate for the Abia North Senatorial District.
The results were announced in the presence of representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
