The Peoples Democratic Party has appointed former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, as Chairman of its Screening Committee for presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s 2026 primary election and the 2027 general elections.

The appointment was approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) as part of preparations for the PDP presidential primary process.
According to a statement released by the party, the committee will screen all aspirants seeking to contest for the PDP presidential ticket.
Other members of the committee include Alhaji Abba Dauda Isawa, mni; Senator George Thompson Sekibo; Sodipo Semiu; Mrs. Chinelo Chidebelu; Nasiru Mohammed; Senator Zainab Kure; Lindsey Eghe Sorae, while Hon. Hassan U. Sokodobo will serve as Secretary.
The screening exercise is scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the PDP National Secretariat Annex, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
