In a formal declaration released on Monday, Appolos announced his intention to represent Obingwa West, citing a deep sense of responsibility, long-standing engagement with his constituents, and a commitment to people-centered leadership.
The aspirant, a native of Isiko Village in Mgboko Umuanunu, Ward 3 of Obingwa Local Government Area, said his decision followed extensive consultations and reflection on the needs of the constituency.
Appolos emphasized his vision for a constituency where development is tangible and inclusive, noting that legislative impact should be felt across all communities, including rural areas. He pledged to address key challenges such as infrastructure deficits, economic concerns, and communal issues.
Highlighting his background, Appolos described himself as a seasoned journalist and public servant who has consistently advocated for accountability and good governance. He previously worked with notable media organizations including The Nation Newspaper, Nigerian Compass, and Union Newspaper, and served as Editor-at-Large at Oversight Magazine.
Beyond journalism, he has held key roles in government, including Personal Assistant, Chief Press Secretary, and Media Adviser to a former Abia State governor. According to him, these experiences have provided him with firsthand insight into governance and policy-making.
Appolos also pointed to his loyalty to the PDP, especially during challenging periods following the 2023 elections. He noted his role as State Vice Chairman (Abia South), where he contributed to rebuilding and strengthening the party’s structure in the zone.
Commending past and current representatives, including Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr., Appolos said his ambition is not to diminish previous efforts but to build on them and expand opportunities for constituents.
Declaring that the time has come for “a new standard of representation,” he promised leadership that is accessible, accountable, and results-driven.
Appolos confirmed that his candidacy is fully compliant with electoral guidelines, stressing that his move goes beyond mere declaration to a firm commitment to serve.
He called on constituents to support his bid, expressing confidence in a collective victory and a shared vision for the future of Obingwa West.
