The development was disclosed by the factional Publicity Secretary of the party, Ini Ememobong, while briefing journalists after the party’s 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.
Ememobong stated that the faction acted in compliance with directives from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) by filing an appeal at the apex court. He also revealed that a request for accelerated hearing has been submitted to ensure a speedy resolution of the matter.
Despite the legal action, he emphasized that reconciliation efforts within the party are still ongoing. According to him, the move to the Supreme Court does not hinder peace talks, noting that the case could be withdrawn if an amicable agreement is reached among the aggrieved parties.
He further added that courts typically encourage out-of-court settlements, expressing optimism that the crisis may still be resolved through dialogue.
