In a nomination letter dated February 24, 2026, the Board of Editors of Independent Newspapers informed Anyaso that his selection followed weeks of nominations from Nigerians across the public and private sectors, recognizing individuals and organizations whose contributions were considered exceptional in 2025.

According to the letter, the nomination acknowledges Anyaso’s strategic deployment of capital into community-building initiatives that balance financial discipline with social responsibility through the Chima Anyaso Foundation.

The editors highlighted several initiatives credited to the businessman and philanthropist, including the distribution of over ₦50 million to empower constituents in Bende, Abia State, aimed at strengthening small businesses and improving household stability. More than 100 petty traders reportedly received ₦200,000 each to scale their businesses and improve economic resilience.

The board also noted his multi-state mentorship and empowerment programme spanning Lagos, Bayelsa, Imo and Abia States, designed to train the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Also cited was the work of the Ahuoma Anyaso Education Foundation, which fully funds a tuition-free nursery and primary school that has reportedly educated over 500 children for more than 13 years, alongside scholarship programmes for outstanding students. Among them is a specialized scholarship awarded to a visually impaired student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to promote inclusive education.

Voting for the award commenced on February 16, 2026, as Nigerians are expected to participate in the public voting segment to determine the eventual winner.

The winners of the various categories will be announced at a ceremony scheduled for April 18, 2026, at the Eko Hotel & Suites.

The 2025 awards ceremony is themed “Game Changers: Breaking Barriers and Shaping Tomorrow.”
