The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has announced new dates for its Ward and Local Government Congresses following the resolution of internal disagreements within the party.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the APC Ward Congress will now take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, while the Local Government Congress is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2026. The party confirmed that the State Congress remains unchanged and will hold on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The Ward Congress had earlier been suspended amid internal party friction. However, party leaders say the issues have since been resolved, leading to what they described as the emergence of a “bigger, stronger, and more united Abia APC.”
Sources close to the party leadership disclosed that the earlier suspension followed allegations of an attempt to hijack the party structure. The move was reportedly linked to a plan not to retain the current state chairman, who was said to be backed by those instrumental to his emergence.
Party officials expressed confidence that the rescheduled congresses will proceed smoothly and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
