Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex (MFR, OON) has criticized the nomination of Barrister Neya Uzor-Kalu, daughter of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, in President Bola Tinubu’s latest ambassadorial list, describing it as another example of what he called “politics of one family” in Abia North.

Bourdex, a prominent political figure from the district, said the appointment reinforces a pattern where major federal opportunities meant for the people of Abia North allegedly end up within the same political family. According to him, the trend has persisted for more than two decades, covering appointments, contracts and developmental projects.

He said the ambassadorial nomination reflects what he described as a “monarchical style of representation,” insisting that the people of the district deserve broader inclusion and fair access to federal opportunities.

Bourdex through his official Facebook handle  questioned Senator Kalu’s silence on sensitive national issues affecting the South-East, alleging that such silence is motivated by personal political gains rather than collective interest. He said Abia North needs a representative who speaks boldly when matters concerning the Igbo nation arise.

He maintained that Abia North is rich in qualified professionals, capable youths and competent technocrats, stressing that no single family should be positioned as the only source of federal nominees. According to him, the recycling of opportunities among a small circle undermines development and weakens public confidence in representation.

Bourdex urged the people of Abia North to make more informed choices ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the district must elect leaders who prioritize public interest and distribute opportunities fairly.

He declared that the people of Abia North are becoming more politically aware and ready to challenge what he termed “a dynasty of self-preservation,” adding that “a people who have opened their eyes cannot be silenced.”
